As a result of the recent high rainfalls and subsequent flooding Melbourne Water is working with emergency services and other relevant agencies to review the impacts to our waterways and assets.

You can access current emergency information by calling the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226 or sign up to receive regular updates regarding flooding via the emergency.vic.gov.au website and app.

​Applications for planning permits for the subdivision of land require our consent, as a referral authority. We review applications and inform council if we accept the proposed changes.

​Most subdivision applications require an application for a planning permit to subdivide and an application for certification.

Application process

Applications must include:

  • plan of subdivision

  • council endorsed Form A

Approval process

We will assess applications received from councils and respond with either our:

  • consent

  • consent with conditions

  • objection

We might request more information before we make a final response.


The process takes 28 calendar days to assess an application and respond.

Incomplete applications may be delayed or returned requesting additional information.


There are no fees for this service.
