This is a free dinner for people who are lonely or financially challenged to provide a meal for themselves on Christmas Day, 25th December. We were greeted by an enthusiastic bunch of young people and leadership enjoying each other in this picturesque setting. We were warmly incorporated into the camp activities and evening meal. I was impressed by the tone of the gathering and the respect Mary Somerville has from the young people. A great effort and outreach on behalf of the parish.”

TONIGHT at Knox Church at 7pm: all are welcome to a special Choral service “Remember, O Thou Man” to mark 100 years since WW1 and 150 years of the Knox Church choir. This musical tribute features soloists Claire Barton/ alto, Calla Knudson-Hollebon/ soprano, Tanara Stedman/ bass and David Burchell/ organ. The Knox Church choir will be joined by the magnificent St Kilda Brass, The Dunedin RSA Choir, Barock- the Otago Girls and Boys High School Choirs, the Otago Boys and Girls High School Kapa Haka Group lead by Mac Te Ngahue.

Lunch at Mitchell’s – next Sunday 1st November. Please note that there is a time change for our monthly lunches at Mitchell’s – we will now meet at 12.30pm – a little later to allow the Green Island folk more time to get there.

 

 

 

Sunday 8th November will be a combined parish service at CAVERSHAM at 10am, where we will be hosting Rev Andrew Norton, the Moderator of the Prebyterian Church of Aotearoa NZ. We have also invited the congregations of Grants Braes and South Dunedin to join us for this service. There will not be a service at St Margaret’s on 8th November.  It would be appreciated if people could bring a plate for morning tea after the service; offers of help to serve and wash dishes after the morning tea would also be appreciated – please let Wendy know.

 

 

An Invitation to help Mary Somerville and Bruce Hamill celebrate 110 years! All welcome to Sidey Hall on Saturday 14th November, 6.30 – 9.30pm; bring nibbles to share; cake, coffee & tea provided. No gifts, but if you wish, donations can be made to the refugee cause or Coastal Unity Youth 180.

 

 

 

Bible Society Christmas Cards for sale. $7.99 per pack. Newly designed for 2015. Each pack contains 12 cards and envelopes. Each card has a bible text on the theme of Christmas and a Christmas greeting. In each pack there are four designs, three of each design. All cards are 100mm x 150mm (NZ Post standard). Money raised from the sale of these cards will help provide bibles for people all around the world. Available from Barbara, phone 453 0344, or at the parish office.

 

 

 

West Harbour Garden Trail is being held on Saturday 31 October from 11am – 4.30pm. Tickets with maps on sale $12 on the day at Emmanuel Church, 12 Station Road Sawyers Bay, or ring 471 0690 or 471 0705. Organised by the United Church of Port Chalmers. 

 

 

 

Peoples Climate March DunedinSunday 29 November, 1pm leaving the Dental School, speeches and music in the Octagon. Support the call for climate justice and global action on climate change.

 

Saturday October 31, 11.30am: Preparations for People's Climate March - making placards, signs, banners, etc. Please come at 11.30am to 11 Allan Street, North East Valley. All welcome. Contact: Scott 03-929-4154.
