Regional PWANZ  (Presbyterial) will hold their final meeting for 2016 on Thursday 24 November, 2 pm, in the McLean Room, Burns Hall, of First Church, Moray Place Dunedin. This meeting is open to all members of our parish.  The guest speaker will be the Rev Carol Grant a member of the National Executive of PWANZ who will talk to us about the recent meeting held in Wellington and the vision of the National Executive for the future, and will answer any of our questions.  We hope that a large number of people will be able to attend.

 

FIRST CHURCH OF OTAGO invites you to join them on Sunday 4th December at 10am to celebrate 50 years since the Moray Place Congregational Church joined First Church of Otago on the 4th December 1966. The formal act of union of these two congregations was marked by a service of welcome and the sharing in Holy Communion at First Church. This historic event has significantly shaped First Church to become what it is today. At the conclusion of the service, a meal will be served in the Burns Hall.

A call out for White satin Ribbon
As part of a joint project between Presbyterian Support Otago and General Assembly delegates we are planning two white ribbon installations at both Knox Church and First Church.  White Ribbon supports saying No to Family Violence, it is our vision to tie a white ribbon on the upright palings of the fences around Knox and First Church.  We will need upwards of 350 metres of White Satin Ribbon approx 4cm in width.  If you have any of this spare or would like to purchase some for this project it would be used well and I think make a real statement in our city.  Please drop off at Presbyterian Support with my name on it or phone me and I can arrange collection.  Many thanks for helping us with this project.  Carolyn Sims Ph 477 7115. 

 

21st Century Faith Formation Workshop  will be held on Monday 14 November 7pm in Knox  Church, Gathering Area, 449 George Street Dunedin. Craig Mitchell will lead this workshop on helping to identify some of the key challenges and exploring ways in which churches might grow disciples in a pluralistic, 24/7 digital world. All are very welcome

 

The Knox Centre for Ministry & Leadership and Presbyterian Youth Ministry graduation service will be on Wednesday 16 November, 7:30 pm at Knox Presbyterian Church, 449 George Street, Dunedin. Speaker will be Rev Dr Min Heui Cheon. Everyone is invited.

Sunday, 30th October, being a 5th Sunday, will be a combined parish service at St Margaret’s, Green Island at 11am. Morning tea will be served before the service at 10.30am. It would be appreciated if people could bring a plate for morning tea.

 

Parish review: The parish review will take place on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th  November 2016.  There will be a potluck tea on Friday 4th November at 6 pm at Sidey Hall.  Please bring finger food to share.  After tea the review team will explain the process and have a chat with members of the congregation, finishing at about 8 pm when the team will meet with the leadership of Coastal Unity Parish.   Members of the review team are Lee Kearon, John Daniel and Janet Sim Elder.  Individuals will be able to meet with the review team on Saturday at a time that suits. 

This is an important occasion for our parish – we look forward to seeing you.
