Special Congregational Meetings will be held at the conclusion of both parish services on Sunday 29th January. The purpose of these meetings is to receive a nomination of an additional member to the Session, with the resolve that, if elected, a service of Induction would take place on Sunday 5th February at Caversham during morning worship.

Wednesday 18th Jan: Visit to Taieri Historical Society Park, Outram – meet at 1.30pm. $6 entry; bring money for real fruit ice-cream.

Thursday 26th January: pot luck lunch at Elizabeth’s house. Meet at 12 noon for 12.30 lunch. Bring a plate of food to share. An afternoon of fun!

Lunch@Sidey has changed format during the holidays – on Thursdays through to 26th January you are invited to come along between 11.30 and 12.30 but please bring your own packed lunch and there will be garden classes, even on rainy days.

Thursday lunches will resume on Thursday 2nd February.

Security: As a number of items have gone missing from the Sidey Hall kitchen in recent weeks we are asking those on morning tea to lock the hall after preparing the morning tea on a Sunday so it is secure when there is no one in the hall while we are in the church. If you need to get into the hall for any reason during worship, please ask someone on door duty for a key.

 

Stamps: We invite you to save your used postage stamps and bring them to the office early next year. Don’t clean them, but they can be trimmed (if you wish) with a good margin around the stamp, so not to damage it. We give the stamps to Presbyterial, to raise money for mission projects.

Green Island Market Day: A special thank you to Alison and Ian for their huge effort in coordinating the Green Island Market Day last Saturday – they put in a lot of work before, during and after the event. We are grateful too to all the other helpers and contributors – thank you, everyone. As announced last Sunday, a total of $1,923.60 was raised!!

 

Christmas Open Homes: a huge thank you to Susan and Anne for opening their homes last Sunday, along with Susan’s neighbour. It was a lot of work for these folk and we greatly appreciate their fine efforts. Attendees really enjoyed the afternoon and Christmas treats; ticket sales and proceeds from the sales tables raised a total of $1,245 to boost parish funds! A wonderful effort!! Thank you all who contributed!

 

Greater Green Island Community Carol Service: with a choir led by Jack Rutherford, will be held on Sunday 18th December, 7pm at St Peter Chanel Catholic Church, 242B Main South Rd, Green Island. All very welcome.

 

Dunedin South Community Carols: all welcome to this ecumenical event on Wednesday 21st December, 6pm – 7pm at St Patrick’s Church, Macandrew Rd.

Dunedin Community Christmas Dinner: Acts of Kindness Charitable Trust will again be hosting Christmas Dinner at the Dunedin Town Hall on the 25th December 2016 from 11.30am – 2.30pm. Free entry and meal. This meal is to give an opportunity for companionship for those who would otherwise be spending the day alone or are unable to provide a meal for themselves or their family. A special Christmas Day bus service organised by Otago Heritage Bus Society will run a return journey to the Octagon from Normanby, St Kilda and St Clair. The Mornington Presbyterian Church has a house available to rent in 2017. It has five bedrooms (one used as a study) two bathrooms and three toilets. A living room kitchen (open plan), a separate lounge, a laundry and a double garage complete the ground floor. The basement provides storage and a work area. The house has all day sun. The house is close to regular bus routes, one going to the University.
