  • We need items for a grocery hamper raffle – please bring to church or to the office
  • If you are able to assist on the day, please let the office know.
  • Bring in your unwanted yet saleable goods – white elephant, elegant junk, toys, puzzles, books, good used clothing – bring to the church office during office hours, or phone the office to arrange collection
  • Pot up plants; make jams and preserves for selling

 

Hospital Chaplaincy Street Day Collection: will be held this Thursday 2nd March. Thank you for all offers of help. We invite people to donate to this appeal wherever you see collectors this Thursday.

 

Harvest Thanksgiving Services will be held in the parish next Sunday 5th March. Please bring along fresh produce and other food items to services that day; these will be taken to the Presbyterian Support Foodbank.

World Day of Prayer – this Friday 3rd March. All welcome to a service at 1.30pm at St James Church, 293 King Edward St. The liturgy for the service has been prepared by women from the Philippines on the theme “Am I being unfair to you?”

You are invited to donate to this appeal and a retiring offering will be received at services on Sunday 26th February.

Tuesday lunchtime worship will begin again on Tuesday 7 February, 12.15-12.45pm at First Church, and will be held every week until the end of the year. This is open to all, and provides a space of quiet in the heart of the city and an oasis during the week to be still and worship.

Special Congregational Meetings will be held at the conclusion of both parish services on Sunday 29th January. The purpose of these meetings is to receive a nomination of an additional member to the Session, with the resolve that if elected a service of Induction would take place on Sunday 5th February during morning worship at Caversham.

 

January Jaunts 2017: the remaining Jaunt will be this Thursday 26th January: pot luck lunch at Elizabeth’s house. Meet at 12 noon for 12.30 lunch. Bring a plate of food to share. An afternoon of fun!
