THANK YOU to all who helped with the parish stall at the Election Day market! $310.50 was raised thanks to all who provided baking, produce, parsley etc and to Margaret Forbes, Linda Burns, Anne Watkins and Sue Lambie for manning the stall.

Special Appeal for Lunch@Sidey: during October we are inviting members of the parish to contribute in support of our very successful community mission, Lunch@Sidey. Many of you generously provide soup for this Thursday lunch, and we receive bread and vegetables from Foodshare. However, we regularly need to purchase tea, coffee, sugar, milk, margarine etc and our funds are now running low.

If you are able to help support the lunch in this way, we invite you to place your donation in a marked envelope with your offering any Sunday in October, or send directly to the office. Thank you.

Mowing of Caversham Church Lawns: With the current volunteers down to just 3, we are looking for people who would be prepared to go on a roster to mow the 3 pieces of lawn round the Caversham buildings. One more person would mean each would be required for an hour every 8 weeks, while two more would lighten the load to once every 10 weeks.  In the given week, you may do the lawns at a time that suits you - and the weather. The motor mower and fuel are supplied. Please give this some thought and contact Wendy at the church office or June at 4877293 if you are willing to help.

Left at Caversham on 17th September – a small white plate with blue flower decoration. Please contact the office if it is yours.

Kew Park Proposed changes: it has come to our attention that the City Council is planning to put in extra skateboarding equipment at Kew Park, but at the expense of half the basketball court. The proposal is to take away one basketball hoop and just leave the markings for half a court. A number of us are happy to see new equipment added but not happy about taking away half the basketball court, which was part of the original project, agreed on and fundraised for by the community. There is currently some community consultation in progress, so if you wish to have your say, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and/or contact DCC Parks and Reserves.

World Vision Child Sponsorship: The new donor year for our sponsored child began on 1st August and an updated donor list is on the back table. Those who have supported this mission in the past will find their names on the list but we also welcome others to be involved. An annual donation of $22 per donor should cover our annual commitment to Jyoti in India. Thank you all for your support.

Caversham Connect September issue (print version) – copies are available in Dutton Lounge or from the Caversham 9012 letterbox by Kew Park. Please feel free to pick up a copy then pass it on to a friend or neighbour when you are finished.

Christian World Service Spring Story newsletter – copies are on the back table. This includes a summary of the CWS Annual Review.

From Presbyterian Support Otago: Did you know that your pre-loved goods can do great things? Spring is here, and the change in season may mean you’ve been inspired to do a spring clean. We have made it easy for people to donate suitable unwanted goods to us, so they can be passed on to families in need or sold through one of our three charity shops. Yellow bags for your goods are available at the Coastal Unity Parish office or St Margaret’s Church – Presbyterian Support would collect bags if you contact them, or leave at Parish office.
