Caversham Women’s Fellowship: will meets tomorrow, Monday, 21st August in Dutton Lounge.  It will be our Annual meeting starting at 1.30pm followed by our speaker Alison Neville, who has led an interesting life, as did her Mother and Grandmother, and their connection with India.

Caversham Church Spring Clean: the date of the church spring clean has been changed to Saturday 2nd September starting at 9.30am as Saturday 9th didn’t suit a number of people. Please let Yvonne (ph 487 9559) or Wendy (ph 487 6367) know if you will be able to help on the 2nd . The more helpers the faster the job is completed! Bring along your dusters, furniture polish, vacuum cleaner or floor mop.

If you can’t help on 2nd September, maybe you could do so on the 9th September – we may need to do the spring clean over two weeks as we did last year.

‘Winter Warmers’ thank you to the people involved with the Winter Warmers stall on Saturday 12 August – Ian Lambie & Paul Turnbull for all their work on Friday setting out the books, and to Sue Lambie, Marion Strang, Colleen McAuliffe, Alison Baker, Wendy Crawford, Ian and Paul for helping on Saturday with selling books, clothing, bedding & morning teas and to Sue Lambie for coordinating the event.  We took $212.80 on the day which was a good result and we met lots of people from the community.

Thank you so much to the ‘people-movers’ who assisted at the Hospital chapel service on Sunday 6th August. We have received the following letter from Frances O’Connell, Otago Healthcare Chaplaincy Support Trust:

Dear Sue,

We would like to take this opportunity of thanking you and the members of your church for the help you gave us at the Hospital Chapel recently. It is appreciated that it is not always easy to gather together a group of people for this purpose. We also realise that each of you has made a real sacrifice of time and energy and perhaps had to miss out on your own church service to be at the hospital.

Please convey to all your members our sincere thanks for their contribution. Without the help of groups such as yours our hospital worship services would be difficult to maintain Sunday by Sunday. We trust that you all got the same satisfaction of joy from your efforts as the patients and staff did from being able to share in the worship of God while here in hospital.

Yours sincerely, Frances

World Vision Child Sponsorship: The new donor year for our sponsored child began on 1st August and an updated donor list is on the back table. Those who have supported this mission in the past will find their names on the list but we also welcome others to be involved. An annual donation of $22 per donor should cover our annual commitment to Jyoti in India. Thank you all for your support.
